How we handle your data
Jubilee 42 is an online fashion magazine with a small personal styling service attached to it. This page explains, in plain terms, what happens to the information you send us and what your browser keeps while you read. We have tried to make it short enough to read in one sitting.
The short version: we collect very little, we use it only to answer you and to carry out the styling work you ask for, and we do not sell it or pass it on for advertising. The notice is written with Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) in mind, because the studio is based in Hitachi, Ibaraki, and most of our readers are in Japan.
•
Who is responsible
The site and the styling service are run from 3-6-4 Bentencho, Hitachi, Ibaraki 317-0072, Japan, under the name Jubilee 42. For any question about personal data, write to info@jubilee42.com or call +81 294-34-4336.
The name of the individual or company operating the studio, and of the person responsible for handling personal information, is given in writing without delay if you ask for it at that address. We would rather you ask than guess.
•
What we receive from you
The contact form asks for your name, your email address, an optional phone number and your message, plus a tick box to confirm you have read this page. If you write to us by email instead, we receive your address and whatever you put in the message.
If you go on to book a styling session, we also keep what you tell us about your wardrobe, your daily routine, your sizes and your preferences. During Ongoing Style Guidance you may send photographs of clothes or outfits for quick feedback; those photographs, and the written notes we prepare after each video session, are kept as part of your file.
Please do not send pictures that show other people's faces, and please keep health details, passwords and payment card numbers out of your messages. Nothing in our work needs them, and we do not ask for them.
•
Why we use it
We use personal information for these purposes and no others: to reply to your enquiry; to arrange, deliver and follow up a styling session; to write the summaries and notes that belong to that session; to keep the business records that accounting and tax rules require; and to deal with a complaint or a dispute if one ever arises.
We do not use it for advertising, for building profiles of readers, or for sending newsletters you did not ask for. If we ever want to use your details for a purpose not listed here, we will ask you first and wait for your answer.

Cookies and what your browser stores
This site has no analytics, no advertising cookies and no tracking pixels, and it loads no scripts from outside services. The fonts, the pictures and the styling all come from the site itself.
The only thing stored in your browser is one small cookie named gn. It is set when you press the Got it button on the cookie notice, so that the notice does not come back on every page. Its value is simply 1, it lasts about six months, and it contains nothing about you. You can delete it in your browser settings at any time; the notice will just appear again on your next visit.
Like most web hosts, the server that delivers this site may keep ordinary technical logs (the address of the request, the time, and the page asked for) for security and troubleshooting. We do not use those logs to identify or follow individual readers.
•
Who else sees it
Email passes through our mail provider, which delivers and stores messages on our behalf and handles them only under our instructions. Video sessions run on a video-call service; we tell you which one before the session, and you are welcome to suggest another one that suits you better.
Apart from those service providers, we hand information to a third party only when you have agreed to it or when the law requires it, for example a court order or a lawful request from an authority. Some providers keep data on servers outside Japan. When that is the case, we choose providers that explain how they protect data, and we tell you on request which provider holds your messages and in which country.
•
How long we keep it
An enquiry that does not lead to a booking is deleted within six months of the last message in the conversation. For clients, the session notes and any photographs you sent are kept while we are working together and for twelve months afterwards, so that a later seasonal edit can start from where the last one finished. After that they are deleted, or earlier if you ask.
Invoices and payment records are different. Japanese bookkeeping and tax rules say how long those must be kept, and we keep them for exactly that period, no longer.
•
Your rights
Under the APPI you can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it or add to it, to delete it, to stop using it, and to stop passing it to a third party. Send the request to info@jubilee42.com from the address you used when you wrote to us, and say what you would like changed or removed.
We answer without delay, and we may ask one question to confirm that the request really comes from you. We do not charge for ordinary requests. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can also take the matter to the Personal Information Protection Commission of Japan.
•
Security
Messages are kept in a password-protected, encrypted mailbox, and only the people who are handling your message can open it. Photographs and notes are stored in private files that we hold ourselves, not on this website, and they are removed according to the schedule above.
The contact form on this site is deliberately simple. If something does go wrong and it affects you, we will tell you promptly and report it to the authorities where the rules require.
•
Younger readers
Jubilee 42 is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under sixteen. If you believe a young person has written to us, tell us and we will delete the message.
•
Changes to this notice
When something here changes, we update the date at the top of the page. If a change affects how we use details you have already given us, we will email you before it applies, not after.
